James has developed several different performance acts that feature his unique skill set as a musician and a front man. Each act features different instrumentalists and music styles, providing a wide variety of options for different events.

Solo Artist

As a well established professional saxophonist in the Niagara Region, James has developed a unique solo saxophone show enhanced with beautiful backing tracks. Performing many of the greatest songs in popular music, this versatile saxophonist creates a warm, upbeat music environment that is suitable for any occasion. From John Mayer to the Beatles, listeners will be welcomed with familiar melodies that will help set the perfect ambience for that special event!

James works with some of the finest musicians available in Southern Ontario. Each duo features a different accompanist, changing the flavour of the group to suit people’s different tastes in music.

International Cafe duo

With acoustic guitarist Greg Rodman, this duo presents a rich blend of popular songs from around the world. Drawing from rhythms of Latin America and melodies from across Europe and beyond, this duo will put you in that blissful café state of mind! With the addition of the flute, this duo is also well suited for wedding ceremonies.

The upright duo

Saxophone | Vocal | Piano

The acoustic bass (aka upright) provides a deep, warm accompaniment to James’ rich voice and tenor saxophone tone. This duo is ideal for the cocktail hour or dinner portion of any event. Plus, the tenor saxophone and upright bass look stunning together!

Doug & James (D.J. Duo)

Saxophone | Acoustic Bass

Doug and James have been performing together for over 40 years. This blues infused jazz and pop duo plays a wide repertoire of timeless melodies. This duo is ideal for the cocktail hour or dinner portion of any event.

James + One

Vocals | Saxophone | Flute | Guitar or Piano

Over the years, James has had the privilege of performing with dozens of different musicians in a duo format. In a lead or supporting role, James has played music styles ranging from 90s alt rock to classical. Name a genre and James will bring in the right musician to accompany him for your special event.

D.J. Combo

The D.J. Combo features Doug Mundy on piano, James Gay on vocals and saxophone and Stephen Gay on drums. This versatile group is well suited to play a wide variety of events. From intimate dinner parties to backyard barbecues, this trio does it all!

Performing familiar songs from the 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and today, this band’s setlist includes music by well-known artists such as the Rolling Stones, John Mayer, Stevie Wonder, Bill Withers, Gnarls Barkley, David Bowie and many more!

frequently asked questions

  • For each performance, James brings all necessary PA equipment required unless professional audio is being provided. A performance space with access to standard electricity is required. Performance space needed is approximately 4ft by 4ft for each musician in the group.

    Ex. A trio would require approximately 12ft wide by 5/6ft deep.

  • Yes, I am willing to play outside of the Niagara region. My price will be adjusted to cover added travel expense and time.

  • The area for the musician(s) should be flat and covered for sun or rain protection. Electricity to the area is preferred. However, I have performed wedding ceremonies in the middle of vineyards with a battery pack.

  • If we know it, ABSOLUTELY!!! There will be an additional fee if you would like James to learn a specific song for your special occasion.
